"Standing round the fire, with the darkness behind us and our voices joining together and lifting into the sky, was an unforgettable experience."
There is no shortage of evidence telling us that being outdoors makes us happier.
It tells that singing is good for us too.
FireChoir is a chance to do both together and create beautiful sounds at the same time.
Led by Elizabeth Swift, and founded in 2015,we meet each month at Highwoods Country Park, Colchester and White House Farm Wildlife Site and travel together to the fire site. Once there, we light the fire and join our voices together in a range of songs specially chosen for their simple, overlaying harmonies and easy memorability. We share a cup of tea when the kettle is hot and then stoke the fire for some more singing.
Anyone is welcome. There are no auditions and we enjoy the qualities of each voice blending with the next.
We sing songs that connect us to the turning year, to each other, to ourselves, and to the world.
We sing songs that make us feel good.
And we laugh alot!
