Up to date news in May
8 months in and we have sung over 30 different songs in 3 seasons and shared our fires with around 40 different people. A non-performing group we have nonetheless found ourselves leading fire-y singing at the Winter Solstice and to support Refugee Action. We have been given 8 beautiful evenings and each time find our voices entwined with birch and sweet chestnut as we sing up to the sky and down through our roots. Dripping twigs from days of rain, frosty earth and both cloudy and clear skies have been ours – and, through the six months of Autumn and Winter, we have been more than blessed by the moon!
It seems a good time to look back and forwards and I invite you to share your thoughts with me too so that this FireChoir is a group that really serves us all well. I really enjoy the love and enthusiasm each of you has brought to the group and the amazing sounds we make just by mixing our voices together.
I am in the privileged position of being able to choose and sing the songs I like! I would love to know which songs particularly resonate with you and if there are any you would like included – just drop me a message or talk to me! It’s not always possible but often a harmony can be written to go with a good song! I try to keep our singing pulsing with the year too so some winter favourites will be back when it gets dark again.
In April I realised it was light enough to enjoy a bit of natural fire lighting. If you fancy knowing more about how the fire works and would like to kindle it with your breath from a tiny spark just let me know and we’ll make it happen over the next few months – you may need to come along a bit early so that we have plenty of time.
When I started the group in September I thought the £5 charge would cover my costs. It doesn’t! so from June I am raising the charge to £8 with a view to £10 from December. I hope this doesn’t get in the way of a good sing for everybody.
Here are some happenings for the next few months:

Thank you for being part of this and looking forward to singing with you!
